N-Acetyl Cysteine 600mg is a dietary supplement containing N-acetylcysteine (NAC), the most direct precursor of glutathione.

It helps to restore reserves of glutathione, one of the body’s most powerful endogenous antioxidants, and to protect against oxidative stress.

What exactly is N-acetylcysteine (NAC)?

La N-acetylcysteine, or NAC, is a particular form of the amino acid cysteine. It’s an excellent precursor of glutathione, a powerful endogenous antioxidant which is involved in many functions in the body including the immune defences, detoxification, and various cellular events essential to healthy organ function. As glutathione levels unfortunately decline with age, taking a supplement can be invaluable for maintaining the body’s reserves.

The effects of N-acetylcysteine on ageing and oxidative stress

As an excellent source of glutathione, N-acetylcysteine offers numerous health benefits in preventing glutathione deficiency which can have serious consequences for health such as contributing to the oxidative stress involved in cellular ageing and the development of diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s. Providing the body with N-acetylcysteine may therefore help slow down ageing by supporting endogenous glutathione production.

N-acetylcysteine has also been widely studied for its potential to protect the liver. Evidence suggests it could prevent certain kinds of liver damage caused by various factors:

  • excessive use of drugs such as in paracetamol poisoning;
  • heavy metals;
  • chemicals;
  • cigarette smoke;
  • noise.

An effective and inexpensive formulation

N-Acetyl Cysteine 600 mg offers an economical way of maintaining glutathione levels in the body. Our product comes in the form of vegetarian capsules, each containing 600mg of N-acetylcysteine. While the daily dose varies depending on individual need, the generally-recommended dose is between one and three capsules a day. Taking vitamin C at the same time can maximise glutathione’s efficacy. If you are in any doubt about dose, seek advice from your therapist.
