¤ Fucoxanthin, extracted from the brown seaweed Undaria pinnatifida, has been shown to facilitate weight loss by stimulating production of a protein responsible for oxidation and breakdown of fats. It also appears to stimulate the metabolic rate.

¤ Glucomannan, a highly-viscous, water-soluble dietary fibre, induces a feeling of satiety which reduces the amount of calories absorbed, when taken with water before a meal.

¤ Chromium slows down the rise in blood sugar which occurs after eating a meal with a high GI food content. It therefore reduces weight gain and affects the accumulation of abdominal fat. By increasing the response to insulin, it combats the urge to snack. It encourages loss of fat mass and, at the same time, retention of muscle mass.

¤ By activating the enzyme adenylate cyclase,
forskolin – which is extracted from the plant Coleus forskohlii - increases levels of cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP). This initiates activation of lipase which is sensitive to the hormones that break down fats and transport them in the form of free fatty acids into the bloodstream. One small-scale study demonstrated that taking forskolin promotes weight loss and a reduction in fat mass in overweight individuals.

¤ Super CitriMax® is a patented ingredient made up of hydroxycitric acid (extracted from Garcinia cambogia) bound to calcium and potassium. Two double-blind, randomised clinical studies have shown that daily supplementation with Super CitriMax® over 8 weeks, combined with diet and exercise, resulted in a decrease in appetite and food consumption, inhibited fat production and increased the amount of fat burned. It also produced a reduction both in body weight (three times more than from diet and exercise alone) and in BMI (body mass index), while maintaining healthy cholesterol levels.

¤ Guggelsterones, extracted from Commiphora mukul, promote weight loss through a number of mechanisms :

• by activating lipolytic enzymes ;
• by stimulating the thyroid, thus increasing the metabolic rate ;
• by regulating the size and number of adipocytes – fat cells.

¤ Magnesium is essential for the regulation of blood sugar. In diabetic patients with low magnesium levels, supplementation improved insulin sensitivity and metabolic control.

¤ L-carnitine affects energy metabolism. Supplementation appears to increase oxidation of fats.

¤ Green coffee extract, rich in chlorogenic acid, stabilises glycaemia and promotes weight loss. Daily supplementation with green coffee extract over 60 days led to a 5.7% weight loss in subjects with a BMI of more than 25.

¤ Dandelion extract has a diuretic action and stimulates bile secretion.

¤ Hop extract prevents weight gain following a fat-rich meal.

¤ Gum acacia, or arabic, a soluble dietary fibre, has a bifidogenic action and improves intestinal function.

Weight Loss Formula does not stimulate the central nervous system, unlike our thermogenic formulation Metadrine™.
