What is in Smart Joints Cream?

Smart Joints Cream contains active concentrations of several ingredients that play a role in joint health.

Extract of Boswellia serrata

This is a natural ingredient recognised by Ayurvedic medicine for optimising joint health. Its resin is one of the most widely-used natural products, especially among those plagued by joint problems.

Boswellia’s benefits are attributable to two of its constituents, KBA and AKBA. A number of in vitro studies have shown that these two molecules inhibit 5-lipoxygenase (5-LO), an enzyme that plays a role in inflammation and the joint discomfort it causes. AKBA is thought to be the more effective inhibitor of the two because of its acetyl group which gives it greater affinity with 5-LO. Other mechanisms of action are currently being investigated (TNF, IL-1, MMP3…).

Extract of Eucalyptus globulus

Eucalyptus globulus (also known as ‘fever tree’) is a tree indigenous to Australia, the leaves of which are known to help relieve the airways and reduce rheumatic pain. The World Health Organization has also recognised its traditional use.

Its benefits are believed to be due to the eucalyptol (also called 1,8-cineole) contained in its leaves.

Glucosamine sulfate.

Glucosamine is an amino-monosaccharide produced endogenously in humans and animals from glucose and glutamine, which is then converted into N-acetylglucosamine. It has been used as a nutritional supplement for decades and remains very popular.

MSM (methylsulfonylmethane).

MSM is a natural substance found in the body and has been widely-used as a supplement since it was introduced in the late 1990s.

Coconut oil

Rich in vitamin E, vitamin K and antioxidants, coconut oil is excellent for moisturising the skin and fighting against skin ageing.

Vitamin E

Highly-antioxidant, vitamin E plays a role in protecting the membranes of every cell in the body.
